It takes about $3000 per year to feed and care for three cows at Sivananda. This also includes veterinary care.

To see that these precious living beings give us so much…that they are truly of the earth, giving us the fertile earth itself (in the form of manure) that we derive most of our plant vegetation from…milk to drink, butter, cheese, yogurt and their bodies as well for meat….to see their kindness and gift to us is not a huge stretch, especially if you have been face to face with these incredibly generous, loveable, sweet and gentle creatures. In parts of the world livestock are revered for this generosity… so it’s not so much to hope that that could also be the case here in the US as well.
